This November, we are very proud to hand over the keys of our new Ty Coed 2 bedroom bungalow to Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre. This was a very important day for us as it was the first property that we have developed in over 20yrs and it sets the standard for the type and quality of properties that we will be looking to develop in the future. The property was officially opened by Craig Williams, MP for Montgomeryshire, and was attended by key partners from Welsh Government, Powys County Council and the Police
“The positive impact this service will have on victims and survivors of domestic abuse being able to access services locally cannot be underestimated.” Jane Hutt MS, Minister for Social Justice
Ty Coed sets the benchmark for high quality, safe and secure facility for victims of domestic abuse and will be a key asset in providing an effective response to preventing, and supporting survivors of domestic abuse in Powys. The location of the bungalow means we can meet the needs of victims and their children, enabling them to stay close to their work, support networks and children’s schools. The new design also means that we can now accommodate those with disabilities or mobility issues.
We have our first family ready to move in and are sure they will be delighted at the very high standard of the accommodation they will be living in while accessing MFCC specialist domestic abuse support services.” Jane Stephens, General Manager, Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre
This project is a great example of effective partnership working between Hafan Cymru, Welsh Government, Powys Council, and Montgomeryshire Family Crisis. It shows best practise that can support the development of future projects.
