August 2020 was one of the most difficult times in my life. I left the family home and was lost in where I wanted to be in life. I struggled to find myself after such a major event.
The following September, Hafan Cymru welcomed me into their Young Women’s Project. I was nervous, frightened, and unsure of what will follow. I built up many walls to protect myself, Cate and Jo broke them down.
They encouraged me to continue, to make a better life for myself, and most importantly, they gave me a safe and stable home to follow through with this plan.
Through the 18 months of my living the house, I had completed my A-Levels, and applied to university. I’m now studying to be a nurse at Liverpool John Moores University, a great achievement that I never saw myself fulfilling.
I don’t have words to express how grateful I am to the support workers and my house family for their never ending support, and I hope that my story can encourage others to follow the same path.
